Spinning Frigg Vintage Fairytale Pin

A beautiful vintage brass pin of a woman with her distaff and spinning wheel. She is seated in silhouette, in an ornate throne surrounded by ornate floral motifs. Pin measures just over 1 3/4" (4.5cm) wide.

This pin is very old. My guess is that it dates from the late 19th century. I have reshaped the primitive clasp, but it is not as secure as a modern, locking clasp. This is perhaps best as an altar decoration or to be worn with the upmost care! 

Frigg is the Norse Goddess of spinning-- it is said that she spun the clouds and you can see her spinning wheel in the sky as the constellation also known as Orion's Belt.
